Kinja'd!!!

This was easily the coolest car event I have ever been to. Let’s start from the beginning. We got to Plymouth Friday evening, after doing battle with an army of road closures. As Doug will tell you, the spectator parking lot at any event like this is worth checking out. Here are some of the cars from the VIP parking area that were not part of the show.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Obligatory picture of our car parked next to something cooler.

This Dino is an exception; it was part of the all-Italian show the following day.

Kinja'd!!!

So was this Fiat 600 Multipla.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

This Lancia was the other exception; it appeared in the Lancia class of the Concours.

This is a 1927 Rolls-Royce Phantom I by Brewster. Why it wasn’t in the show I haven’t a clue.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

There was a Coffee & Cars in the parking lot of the Inn at St. John’s (the venue) Saturday morning, as well as a gathering Friday night:

Included in that was a “Concours d’Lemons,” which had a fairly low turnout, although it did include David Tracy’s Jeep. Later that afternoon was the “Italian Happening,” an all-Italian show. The Ferraris were out in force, as were the Fiats. A number of people brought stock, base model 500s,500Ls, and500Xs. Whatever. Only one Lamborghini showed, a tasty Jalpa.

And then, on Sunday, there was the Concours. Holy shit. This was my first concours event, and I was totally unprepared for the sheer quantity and quality of rare, beautiful, and purely lustworthy metal that stretched before me.

I stand by my claim that the only real luxury brands at the moment are Bentley (only just) and Rolls Royce. They’re just so stately.

On the one hand, I get what you’re saying. But on the other hand, what does that makes every other luxury brand?

The S-Class is pretty luxurious.

I’d say Bentley is Premium Plus and Rolls is Luxury.

Indeed, heck it’s probably the same if not more than the British duo. Unfortunately I’m talking about brands and well Mercedes also make a 20K economy hatchback which takes the shine off the whole Luxury image. Or in other words, bring back Maybach.

Rolls is definitely more luxurious than Bentley but I’d say Bentley is still luxury because while they have a lot of cross over with the rest of the VW group, they don’t make an economy city car. So the brand can keep all it’s prestige unlike Mercedes who have the A Class for example.
